Area Veterans Day Events Planned
The Jerauld County Courthouse is glowing green this week as part of Operation Green Light for Veterans, a national initiative that honors the service and sacrifice of the nation’s military veterans.
From November 4–11, Jerauld County is joining more than 3,000 counties across the country in shining green lights to let veterans know they are seen, appreciated and supported. The initiative, now in its fifth year, is spearheaded by the National Association of Counties (NACO) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO).
“America’s counties have a long and proud history of serving our nation’s veterans,” the organizations noted when announcing the 2025 campaign. “By shining a green light, county governments and their residents can show visible support for the men and women who have served.”
Residents are encouraged to participate by placing a green light bulb in their porch or window during the week leading up to Veterans Day on Tuesday, November 11.
The courthouse’s bright green illumination serves as a visible reminder of gratitude for those who have defended the nation.
