Foothills News: “Cuppy’s Corner”

I wrote my Cuppy’s Corner News Monday morning. Delia Atkinson got it later in the forenoon. It was a very cold day. I enjoyed the beef tips on noodles dinner and a cup of grapes from the Manor kitchen.

Tuesday, I enjoyed the chicken dinner and carrot cake from the Manor kitchen. At 4 p.m. basketball was played in Wessington Springs with Kimball/White Lake. Both girls and boys games played but I can’t find my score sheet.

Kathy Larson was hostess for the Wednesday 9 a.m. coffee. She served delicious, frosted cinnamon rolls and a mint. Enjoying the food and fellowship were Joyce Mees, Luella Teveldal, Lorraine Schultz, Judy Baumgart and me.

My daughter Candi Sails got some groceries for me. I enjoyed the spaghetti dinner and pudding from the Manor kitchen. Patti Solberg Diedrich stopped in with a plate of Rice Krispie bars and a cute card – she enjoys Cuppy’s Corner News. Patti was going to therapy. My granddaughter Baleigh Sails came after school and for supper. Candi Sails was working in Mitchell. My granddaughter Becky Bell Krueger came in the evening and helped me with several things. I am grateful!

Thursday was a very cold day again! I had a cold, so I didn’t go to Angie Mentzer’s beauty shop. I enjoyed the Philly beef sandwich dinner and cookie dessert from the Manor kitchen. Baleigh Sails came to Grandma Dar’s after school and for supper. Candi Sails was working in Mitchell. Friday, I enjoyed the brat, potato salad and peach sauce from the Manor kitchen. At 5 p.m. the JV boys played James Valley Christian Vikings. The score was Wessington Springs Spartans 50 – James Valley Christian Vikings 33. The girls Varsity played at 6 p.m. with a final score of Spartans 54 to Vikings 20. The half time entertainment was Little Sparklers Routine. The boys Varsity played at 8 p.m. with Spartans winning over the Vikings 80-63.

Saturday Baleigh Sails stayed with Grandma Dar. Candi was working in Mitchell. We enjoyed the Salisbury steak dinner and cake from the Manor kitchen. We watched the girls’ and boys’ basketball games. The girls played at 10:30 a.m. with the Mt. Vernon Titans. Spartans won 30-17. The boys played at 11:30 and won their game too, 27-25.

Sunday Darleen Cuppy rode the new bus to the Methodist Church with Delia Atkinson. Also riding were Elaine Roetman, Mary Lou Cameron and Roger Cashman. Lisa Edwards played a beautiful prelude. Pastor Cheri welcomed everyone and said a prayer. We all sang “We Will Glorify the King of Kings” with the choir: Candi and Baleigh Sails, Sandy Beckman Wenzel, Gretchen Burnison, Julie Kraft, Diane Winter, Laura Kieser, Chris Schimke and Lisa Edwards on piano. The children’s message was given by Pastor Cheri, noisy offering was taken, and announcements were made - Confirmation starts, next week a movie will be shown at the Baptist church. We all said the Lord’s Prayer and the offering was taken by Paul and Jill Sheldon. The sermon by Pastor Cheri was “Awaken Your Desire for Jesus” Luke 2:21-23. We closed with the hymn “Precious Name.”

I enjoyed the pork dinner and cherry pie from the Manor kitchen.
