Monday, January 12, 2026, Grandma Dar enjoyed sitting in the whirlpool tub. She really enjoyed her Cream of Wheat breakfast with hardboiled egg and orange slices. Grandma Dar had therapy with Jen Jensen. On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, it was her son-in-law, Jeff Theurer’s birthday. After breakfast she completed her exercises with Michelle. Pastor Cheri stopped in after lunch.
Grandma watched the Spartans play Mount Vernon-Plankinton Titans on channel 23. The girls won 40-37 and the boys won their game 52-27.
On Wednesday, Jan 14, 2026, Grandma enjoyed the whirlpool bath. Grandma played BINGO and read her True Dakotan. On Thursday, Jan 15, 2026, Grandma Dar did not feel well and ended up in the ER in the early morning. Becky, Cheryl, Candi, and Cindy came. Becky left to drive the bus and Candi left for an appointment. Cheryl and Cindy stayed until Grandma was strong enough to return to her room in the Manor. In the afternoon, Grandma received her RSV shot. Becky brought her computer so Grandma could watch the girls play basketball, as they played Iroquois-Lake Preston in the first round of the 281 Conference up in Wolsey. The Spartans led by one point after the first quarter and at half-time, and we were able to pull away with a 55-46 win over the Sharks. Our school hosted wrestling quad and that was on Venture 382. Becky and Mike stopped after the wrestling match was done.
On Friday, January 18, 2026, Happy birthday to Grandson, Deion Sails. It was a cold and snowy morning. It was very blustery all day. Grandma Dar had physical therapy and went to BINGO at 2:30pm. She tells me she won three times!! The Spartans played SBA at 3:30pm and they won 65-42.
On Saturday, January 19, 2026, Happy Birthday to Grandson, Danny Zenk. Cindy was on the video chat. She had a great breakfast. Carol came to visit as did granddaughter, Ashley and Tony. The three of them ate burgers with Grandma in the dining room. Becky stopped in after she got back from Yankton. She went to watch greatgrandson, Brock at his indoor track meet. He won the triple jump. Grandma received good mail from granddaughters Nicole and Crissa. Nicole is at work in Costa Rica. Crissa’s family all wrote in the card and great-grandson, Mason Fruechte has won 75 wins so far in his high school wrestling career for Pipestone Arrows in Minnesota.
On Sunday, January 18, 2026, Happy Birthday to Sage Zenk. She is 5! In the early morning hours, Grandma had a tough time and needed some extra oxygen. After some time and some medicine, Grandma gained some strength. She was able to rest later in the morning after eating some oatmeal. Carol stayed overnight and was able to come with Grandma. Also coming to sit with Grandma was Becky and Cheryl. Candi and Leon also came in. Cindy came to town as well as Cathy, Ella, and Nora. Grandma had pork chops for lunch in the dining hall. Cindy ordered some broasted chicken from the Springs Inn for the girls. Candi went home for a bit. They put the Christmas decorations away in the apartment. Carol and Cheryl started home after lunch. Grandma Dar went to the church service led by the Immanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed the soft-serve ice cream and a piece of chocolate cake after church. Cathy, Ella, and Nora went back to Sioux Falls. Cindy and Becky played Kings corner with Grandma Dar after supper. She enjoyed the tomato soup and grilled cheese on this cold evening. Candi and Deion came in to visit this evening.
