Time is running out to take part in the Weskota Foundation’s annual flower fundraiser, with orders for this year’s “Bouquets Just Because” campaign closing Feb. 27. Formerly known as Roses Just Because, the fundraiser returns in 2026 with a fresh approach. Foundation Coordinator Ellen Powell said the board made the decision to switch from single roses to mixed bouquets, noting they last longer and are more costeffective — allowing the fundraiser to potentially benefit even more local residents.
The annual event supports the Springs Area Bus senior meal transportation program, which helps deliver meals to area seniors. Proceeds from bouquet sales directly assist with keeping that service available for those who rely on it.
“This is one of our favorite annual fundraisers because it’s a simple way to brighten someone’s day while also supporting an important local service,” Powell said.
This year’s bouquets will be supplied by Ranchy Stems. As part of an effort to support local businesses equally, the Weskota Foundation board has implemented a rotation between Jerauld County flower shops. Ranchy Stems will provide flowers in 2026, with 2nd and Bloom participating in 2027.
Bouquets are $20 each, and the final day to purchase tickets is Feb. 27. Orders may be placed at Avera Weskota Memorial Hospital, by calling 605-539-1201, or online through the Avera Weskota Facebook page. Tickets are also being sold at local basketball games throughout February.
Bouquets may be picked up:
• Tuesday, March 24, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the hospital ambulance garage
• Wednesday, March 25, from 8 a.m. to noon at the hospital business office With just days remaining to order, organizers encourage community members not to wait.
“Bouquets Just Because” offers a meaningful way to celebrate a friend, family member or neighbor while helping ensure area seniors continue receiving the meals and support they depend on.
