Foothills News: “Cuppy’s Corner”

On Monday, April 27, 2026, Grandma had cocoa wheats, ½ of muffin, hard boiled egg, and chocolate milk for breakfast. Then she had roast beef dinner which was delicious. Cindy drove down to Springs after a meeting in Huron. She and Grandma enjoyed a full afternoon of visiting and played BINGO. Grandma won four times. After BINGO they enjoyed ice cream and cookies. Cindy helped Grandma write some cards and they looked back through her Alpena Annuals. That was sure fun to go down memory lane. Becky stopped after track practice to help Grandma down to supper in the dining hall.

On Tuesday, April 28, 2026, Happy Birthday to Grandma’s oldest daughter, Cheryl VanAsperen. For breakfast Grandma ate cocoa wheats and sliced bananas. For lunch she ate a pork sandwich, macaroni & cheese. Then at 2pm, Grandma really enjoyed the music program in the dining room. A couple from Miller came down and sang the old-fashioned songs that Grandma remembered hearing. It was very enjoyable. After the program, they enjoyed cookies and ice cream. The MN Twins were playing on Channel 7 and Grandma was happy she was able to watch that game. The Twins lost 1-7 playing against Seattle. The weather wasn’t very enjoyable, and the track meet was cancelled so Becky and Mike Krueger drove Joyce Krueger and Connie Ness to Huron to meet Brian, Julie, and Carlie Bell of Mitchell, and Craig & Cheryl VanAsperen to celebrate Cheryl’s birthday.

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Grandma was happy to get her hair done by Sandy Wolfcale. Becky stopped after track practice and read the True Dakotan to Grandma.

On Thursday, April 30, 2026, Grandma had a whirlpool bath in the morning before breakfast. At breakfast, Grandma enjoyed a frosted cinnamon roll and chocolate milk. The highlight of the day for Grandma was getting a beautiful rose delivered from 2nd & Bloom and the sponsor of her flower was Darlene Bergeleen. This delivery really made her day, and Grandma is SO appreciative of the thought. It was like a May Day basket.

On Friday, May 1, 2026, Grandma ate breakfast and lunch. Then she played BINGO in the afternoon and only won two times. It wasn’t many winnings, but it was sure fun. Grandma enjoyed soup and a sandwich for supper. Granddaughter, Becky Bell-Krueger took some of the track team to Sioux Falls to run in the Howard Wood Dakota Relays. Go Spartans.

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, Grandma was happy to play BINGO in the afternoon. She won three times. For supper, she enjoyed a cheeseburger and pasta salad. Becky stopped in to tell Grandma she is back in town. The Spartans had a good weekend.

On Sunday, May 3, 2026, Grandma ate oatmeal withraisinsandchocolate milk for breakfast. With lunch, she enjoyed pork roast, potatoes & gravy, carrots and a slice of meringue pie. Deion brought Athena and True for a quick visit in the afternoon. Grandma enjoyed the message of the church service led by Pastor Spiehs of the Zion Lutheran Church, but there was no music today. Becky came after church and took Grandma outside where they enjoyed the beautiful blue sky, fresh air, and company of some others. We were able to FaceTime Brock Krueger as he was up in Dickinson, ND, competing in the Frontier Conference Track & Field Meet. He had his personal best in both triple jump and high jump today. Brock placed 2nd in the triple jump with a leap of 46’ 11” and he placed 6th in high jump clearing 6’ 3.25”. Cindy was able to VideoChat on the frame with Grandma after supper.
