Foothills News: “Cuppy’s Corner”

On Monday, May 4, 2026, Grandma enjoyed playing BINGO. Becky took the JH track kids to Huron for their track meet. The elementary concert was tonight. Grandma would still like to get the school channel here but understands she can’t control it. She does love listening to the little kids sing their songs.

On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Grandma’s breakfast was cocoa wheats, donut, dish of fruit, and a glass of chocolate milk. For lunch she enjoyed chicken and yellow cake. Grandma got a beautiful floral arrangement from Fred and Cindy Zenk. These flowers were so beautiful and smelled amazing. Becky went to Burke today with the varsity track kids.

Becky and Grandma played a hand of Kings Corner before supper, which was a chicken sandwich and seasoned potatoes.

On Friday, May 8, 2026, Grandma wasn’t feeling the best. She was able to eat lunch and do some of her arm exercises. After that, she got some more medicine and was able to rest a bit. Connie called her on the VideoFrame and Becky came, and all three enjoyed visiting and had a few laughs. Laughter is good medicine. Becky took Grandma to the dining hall for supper, where she was able to eat some chicken noodle soup and a deli sandwich. Gerry and Kim Orth, Addyson’ s parents, stopped in after the little party they had for the three seniors who work here. Grandma appreciates the kindness and compassion these young adults give her and others.

Also, making the trip was Connie Theurer. It was so nice to see them. Connie headed back to Minnesota, and Cindy was going to spend the night in Springs.

On Sunday, May 10, 2026, Candi stopped in to see Grandma at breakfast. Cindy ordered the buffet from Springs Inn for her and Grandma to enjoy, many of her favorites: broasted chicken, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, cake and sliced strawberries, and a cold can of Pepsi. Becky also joined them in the family dining room and enjoyed the meal from the kitchen. She enjoyed the apple pie and soft serve ice cream. Cindy and Becky spent the afternoon playing Kings Corner and Rummikub with Grandma. Cindy left to go back to Webster and Becky attended church with Grandma Dar. We enjoyed a nice Mother’s Day message from Templeton Church led by Leslie (Peterson) Tanke and her two daughters, Brooklyn and Mary. They played some songs from the computer, which we could sing along to, “Oh What a Friend We Have in Jesus” was one of the songs Grandma enjoyed. Afterwards, we enjoyed soft serve ice cream and cake. Becky took Grandma outside to sit in the gazebo and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air until supper. Cheryl and Craig VanAsperen of Huron stopped after supper to wish Grandma a Happy Mother’s Day and brought her some lilacs.
