Twenty members of the Jerauld/Buffalo County Shooting Sports program represented the county at the South Dakota State Shooting Sports Competition April 24-26 in Pierre and Fort Pierre, with several competitors earning top finishes, highlighted by a state championship from Mauer Jones.
Jones claimed the Junior Compound Without Sight Release (CWOSR) state title with a score of 137 (purple) and also placed fourth overall in Junior Compound With Sight Release (CWSR) with a score of 150 (purple). He also earned purple ribbons in C-Open with a score of 146 and competed in Junior Recurve Without Sight (RWOS), scoring 91 (blue).
Other standout performances included Hastin Heezen and Billy Roduner, who each earned blue ribbons in Senior Compound With Sight Release, and Kershaw Reiner, who captured purple ribbons in both Air Pistol Bullseye and Air Pistol Rapid Fire in the Beginners division.
