On Monday, June 29, 2026, Grandma Dar participated in Fun and Fitness, although she tells us it isn’t so much fun. Grandma knows the fitness exercise helps keep her strength and she is grateful. Grandma also had a whirlpool bath, which she says feels so good! Monday afternoon, she played BINGO to add a few more nickels to her collection. We continue to pray for those who live in Highmore that sustained so much loss of businesses and homes in the 131mph winds early this morning.
On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the morning activity was “Name that Bird” and then in the afternoon they played BINGO to celebrate all the June birthdays. Cindy called to tell Grandma Dar that she was a Great-Grandma, as Danny and Kaela Jo welcomed their son, Henry Joseph. Henry joins Lucas, Owen, and Luella. He weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces, the same as his grandma Cindy. He is the 21st grandchild of Fred and Cindy (Cuppy) Zenk.
Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the reading of the True Dakotan was at 10am. Grandma went to BINGO at 2:45.
Thursday, July 2, the tornado sirens went off as there was a confirmed tornado west of town by Spring Valley Colony. The storms came through town, but luckily, we didn’t get damage in Springs, just rain. Unfortunately, Cheryl and Craig had some damage to their trees in Huron and rain in some of their house. They were without power, but they are safe.
Friday, July 3, 2026, Grandma enjoyed BINGO in the afternoon. She won four times! Supper was vegetable beef soup with a meat and cheese sandwich.
Saturday, July 4, 2026, Brock and Becky came and took Grandma outside on the patio to look at the flowers and check the vegetable trough. The vegetables are really growing. Some of the radishes have been harvested. We sat outside in the shade before lunch. Lunch was cheeseburgers. After lunch, grandma joined the others out front, as they enjoyed watching the parade. Sandy Wolfcale drove her pickup for the float and they passed out candy. Berklie Bell rode on the Springs Food Market float. Grandma Dar was the Statue of Liberty for many years as they were the Human Flag float.
Sunday, July 5, 2026, Grandma had enjoyed a pork roast dinner and custard pie. Brian, Julie, Carlie, and Berklie Bell joined Becky, and they came to visit Grandma Dar. We showed her the memory pictures from seven years ago over the 4th of July at Connie Ness’ house enjoying the fireworks. We shared the photos from the park yesterday with everyone who enjoyed all the 4th of July festivities and some of the videos of the fireworks. We took Grandma to the dining room for church at 3pm. She was greeted with hugs from the Lopez family. Pastor Easter from the Springs Baptist church led the service. Grandma Dar really enjoys the music. Cindy and Becky did a FaceTime with Grandma Dar and Candi, as she stopped after she closed the Cone Zone. Grandma sure enjoyed the ice-cold Pepsi, as she was getting warm.
