Local artists and photographers of all ages are invited to showcase their talents during the inaugural Springs Area Council of the Arts (SACOTA) Community Art & Photography Showcase, set for Aug. 7-8 at The Art Loft, 113 Main St.
The showcase is open to both youth (17 and under) and adults (18 and older), with first-, second- and third-place ribbons awarded in each division.
Participants may enter up to two pieces in each category. Photography categories include people, landscapes, animals and birds, and plants and flowers. Artwork categories include watercolor, acrylic, oil and sketching.
Entries should be delivered to The Art Loft by noon Thursday, Aug. 6. Photography entries should be mounted on an 8-by-10-inch mat.
Judging will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, followed by a public critique at 1 p.m. A reception and open house, also open to the public, will be held at 6 p.m. Friday.
The exhibit will remain open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, giving community members another opportunity to view the entries and celebrate local artistic talent.
