Foothills News: “Cuppy’s Corner”

On Monday, July 20, 2026, the morning activity was dice game. Becky asked Grandma if she got her fun and fitness movement in by throwing the dice? Grandma likes her fingernails painted pink but didn’t get them touched up this week as she thinks they still look so good. Monday afternoon was Bingo and Grandma won a couple more nickels. She sure enjoys playing Bingo.

On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, Grandma had one of her favorites for breakfast, oatmeal and raisins, along with bacon and a donut. After breakfast the activity was bean bag toss. Lunch was shredded pork, cheesy potatoes, and peas. They served cheesecake for dessert. Then Becky came out after lunch and took Grandma to Sandy’s Beauty Room, where Sandy Wolfcale gave Grandma a perm. We worked together to assure Grandma she would have her beautiful perm soon. Grandma was able to watch out the window the water activity they had outside. The staff got wet from garden hoses, water squirters, and they had bubble wands. It was enjoyable to see all interaction out there. After the perm, Sandy set Grandma’s hair and she was fresh as a daisy. Supper was a deli sandwich with broccoli cheese soup and a cup of fruit. Becky announced the Owls final home game this season as they defeated the Winner Demons 16-1.

On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, breakfast was malt o-meal, scrambled eggs, and a cup of fresh fruit. The True Dakotan was read at 10 a.m. Lunch was fried chicken, potato salad, asparagus, and ice cream. Grandma played Bingo and was a big winner, collecting five nickels. Supper was beef salad sandwich, chips, and cup of Jello.

On Thursday, July 23, 2026, breakfast was cream of wheat, Danish, and cup of fruit. Lunch was Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, peas, and a bar for dessert. Yard Yahtzee was the afternoon activity, but Grandma had a little headache. For supper, she did have Tator tot casserole with green beans, and a cup of peaches.

On Friday, July 24, 2026, Grandma ate a pancake, fried egg, and sausage for breakfast. Lunch was a slice of pizza, lettuce salad, and a dish of peach cobbler. After lunch, Grandma Dar said her headache was getting worse. Cindy was on the VideoFrame and Becky came out to sit with Grandma and did a Video Chat with Connie, Amber, and Amy. The nursing staff gave topnotch care, as always, making sure Grandma was comfortable. Cindy and Cheryl both drove down and Candi came in after work. After a muchneeded rest, Grandma had a bowl of oatmeal and raisins about 7 p.m. and an ice-cold Pepsi. She continued to rest into the evening, Cheryl and Candi went home, and Cindy and Becky were able to stay the night with Grandma.

On Saturday, July 25, 2026, Grandma was awake early after having such a good rest. She was surprised to have company so early in the morning. Cindy and Becky were able to play a couple hands of Kings Corner with Grandma before taking her down to breakfast. At breakfast, she ate malt-o-meal, toast. Cindy left for Webster and Becky went home. At about 10:15, Nicole Darleen Cuppy flew into Aberdeen and drove down to see Grandma Dar. Becky and Nicole had a nice visit with Grandma. Nicole told us of the many places she has been for work. She said the post card from Portugal hasn’t arrived yet. Nicole was headed up to Faulkton to help with the golf tournament with her husband Dave Hedt. Proceeds from their golf tournament would be given to the town of Highmore after the devastating winds and destruction they received earlier this month. For lunch, Grandma ate hot dogs with macaroni and cheese. Then after lunch, Connie Theurer, Amber, Trey, and Daxton of Rosemount, MN, made it to Springs to visit Grandma. They ate at Cone Zone and then met Becky at the Manor. After a while, Becky left to go to Chamberlain as the Owls start the Pony Hills League tournament facing the Winner Demons. The Owls lost 8-7 in the game that ended at 12:22 a.m. For supper, Grandma ate hamburgers, pasta salad, and angel food dessert.

On Sunday, July 26, 2026, we are sorry to hear that the storms last night caused much more destruction for our family and friends from Harrold to Sioux Falls. Grandma was up and able to visit Cindy through the ViewClix Frame. She ate oatmeal and raisins for breakfast along with a cinnamon roll. Becky stopped out to visit and type the Cuppy’s Corner and then took Grandma down to the dining room for lunch where she ate pork roast with potatoes and gravy and green beans. Since it is Sunday, they served pie for dessert. Becky left for Chamberlain, where the Owls played Plankinton Bankers. The Owls won in the bottom of the 9th, 10-9, and will now advance to play Burke Bombers on Monday, July 27, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
