For Alison Bergmann, joining the Wolsey-Wessington staff is a homecoming.
A 2014 Wolsey-Wessington graduate, Bergmann is beginning her first year as the district’s middle and high school agriculture teacher and FFA advisor. She attended Lake Area Technical College, earning degrees in large animal pre-veterinary science and ag business. Her career has included time at Prairie View Veterinary Clinic and the past nine years with Agtegra, where she initially started as an intern.
Even Bergmann’s new classroom reflects her local roots. An FFA display incorporates tin reclaimed from a barn connected to her family’s horses and a piece of wood made in the final ag class taught by her grandfather, who spent 30 years as a shop teacher.
“I’ve got a full-circle thing going,” Bergmann said.
