Bad River Youth Rough Stock Series returns Sept. 13

    The Bad River Youth Rough Stock Series will return to Wessington Springs for its second year Sunday, Sept. 13, beginning at 1 p.m. The youth rodeo was introduced last year, replacing the longstanding Bull Bash traditionally held in the fall in conjunction with the Kyle Evans Memorial Wagon Train.

    The event will feature bares, bulls and broncs, with age divisions for 6-8, 9-11, 12-14 and 15-18. A special 0-6 division will offer walk/trot bulls, while Mutton Bustin’ will be offered for ages 4-6 and 7-8, limited to 20 contestants in each age group.

    Advance registration is required for all events. Entries are open Aug. 28 through Sept. 3 or until divisions are full. To register, contact Culley Tobin at 605-770-2808 or Kari Fagerhaug at 605-770-5110. Contestants must check in one hour before rodeo time.

    Concessions will be available from the Wessington Springs Church Concessions Group and Wessington Springs Volunteer Fire Department. No coolers will be allowed.
