Entries sought for Dakota MasterWorks Senior Art Show

The South Dakota Health Care Association is seeking entries for the 29th annual Dakota MasterWorks Art Show, open to South Dakota residents age 60 and older. Entries will be accepted Oct. 5-9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the SDHCA office, 804 N. Western Ave., Sioux Falls. The exhibit will be held Nov. 5-6 at the Jerstad Center on the Good Samaritan Society National Campus in Sioux Falls. Admission is free.

Dakota MasterWorks was created to showcase the talent and creativity of older South Dakotans.

Categories include watercolor, oil and acrylic painting; drawing/ pastels; photography; mixed media; and creative woodworking. Artists may submit up to two works completed within the past three years. Mixedmedia entries must meet additional requirements outlined in the entry information.

First-, second- and thirdplace awards of $75, $50 and $25 will be presented in each category. Judges will also select a $100 Best of Show winner, and a $100 People’s Choice award will be presented. Winning entries will be exhibited at various locations throughout South Dakota following the Sioux Falls show.

This year’s promotional poster features “Candlelight,” a watercolor by Julie Dent of Sioux Falls.

Entry forms and complete requirements are available at sdhca. org under the Dakota MasterWorks link.
