Bert George Fink, 55, of rural Wessington Springs (Aurora County), SD, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2022. Bert passed peacefully and was surrounded by family and friends. Memorial services will be held Thursday May 5 at the United Methodist Church in Plankinton, SD with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Wessington Springs, SD. A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday May 4 from 5-7 p.m. at the Basham Funeral Home in Wessington Springs with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Bert George Fink was born on November 4, 1966 to Elmer Fink, Jr and Jeannette (Munion) Fink in Wessington Springs, SD. During his high school years, Bert was a member of Merry Mixtures 4-H Club horses, cattle, sheep, and pigs that won many ribbons. Bert also participated in High School track. He graduated from Plankinton High School in 1986.
Upon graduation from Plankinton High School, Bert attended two years at Mitchell Technical College to study auto mechanics. Bert graduated in 1988.
Bert was a hardworking, kind hearted, and spiritual man. He did the work of two men, if not more. Bert maintained and ensured smooth operation of the farm and took care of his mother after the passing of his father, Elmer Fink, JR. Bert was also an active member of Plankinton St. Paul Lutheran Church and was confirmed in 1987.
Grateful for sharing his life, he is survived by his mother, Jeanette Fink, three brothers and one sister; Floyd Fink, Jeanne (Fink) Maier, Travis Fink, and Charles Fink. Also, multiple nieces and nephews: Terry (Fink) Diaz, Heather Maier, Robert Fink, Nicole Fink, Dylan Fink, Kari Maier, Makayla Fink, and Devin Fink. Also, to include great niece, Lilli-Anne Diaz and Cayson Fink.
Bert was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Fink, Jr, Grandfather Elmer Fink, Sr, Uncle Edward Fink, Grandmother Clara (McQueen) Fink
