Alvin D Gray, son of Milo and Georgia Gray, was born November 27, 1941 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. When Alvin was five, he lost his mother. Milo then married Elda (Redmond) Gray and they raised the two boys in the Wessington Springs area. Alvin passed away May 14 at Monument Hospital, Rapid City, SD at 81 years of age.
Alvin attended school in Wessington Springs, SD and graduated in 1959. He then enlisted in the US Navy from 1959 to 1963. He was the Postmaster on the USS Franklin D Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier and visited many parts of the world during that time.
After his service in the Navy, Alvin returned home and held various positions throughout the Wessington Springs and Mitchell areas. Alvin and Pam enjoyed fishing and camping in the Ft. Thompson area for many years.
Alvin leaves behind brother, Zane (Den) Gray of Hot Springs, SD, daughters, Tanya (Paul) Amato of Littleton, Co and Althea (Timothy) McPherson, grandchildren Garret, Krista and Conner McPherson of Colorado Springs, Co, numerous nieces and nephews, significant other Pam Frank of Wessington Springs, stepdaughter Darcie Schmidt of Kimball, grandsons Weston and Carson and great-grandson Jed.
A private family burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Wessington Springs, SD on June 8, 2022.
