To the Editor:
Our community has recently experienced an enormously tragic house fire and a heart-breaking loss of two young people, Michial and Tiffany (they were young from my perspective). I did not know either of them well but what I did know is confirmed by everything I have learned since the fire. They radiated a positive, loving and energetic approach to life. All this only further emphasizes the enormity of our loss.
If anything good can come from this immense tragedy it is that we can learn from their example. We can work to apply it in the day to day decisions each of us makes. We live in a society that is seriously divided. We are divided along political, racial, economic and other viewpoints. I don’t know where Michial and Tiffany stood on any of these issues but my guess is that they did not let any of them interfere with their upbeat and loving approach to life.
If we can learn from their example and apply it, they will not have died in vain.
Respectfully, Tom Dean Wessington Springs, SD
