On Thursday, April 17, 2025, we left bright and early to travel down to Avon to participate in their track and field meet before the Easter Holiday. We got the meet in before any weather affected us too much. Both the girls and boys finished 4th in the team point standings, with girls scoring 92 points and the boys had 91 points.
In shot put, Anna Arhart had a season’s best of 35’ 4” to land her in 2nd place. Makynna Heim threw 22’ 5.5”. Then in discus, Arhart threw 87’ 2” to land in 8th place and Heim threw 60’ 6”. We had three throwing the javelin: Lily Roesler, 61’ 11”; Kerstynn Heim, 64’ 8”; and Makynna Heim, 65’ 7”.
In the 100m hurdles, Bailey Yost crossed the line in first place with her time of 17.98 and Roslyn Klein ran 22.03 for 8th place. In the 100m dash, Brooke Mohling ran 15.49; Abby Yost, 15.97; and Celia Garcia, 17.19. The 800m relay of Bailey Yost, Mariah Messmer, Logan Mohling, and Kenzie Kolousek combined efforts for 1:56.86 to cross the line in 1st place. Avon gave each member of the winning relays a memorable trophy.
In the mile run, Spartans had three entered. Alexis Roesler ran 7:05.43 for 7th place. Ella Kolousek ran 7:15.67 for 8th place. Masynn Mebius ran 7:23.42. Running the 400m relay were Ashlyn Weber, Roslyn Klein, Kendall Kolousek, and Brooke Mohling in 1:03.45 for 8th place. Kenzie Kolousek won the 400m dash in 1:02.49 and Kerstynn Heim ran 1:23.13 for 6th place. Bailey Yost swept the hurdle races as she won the 300m hurdles in 53.53. Lily Roesler ran 1:05.77 to finish in 6th place. The medley relay of Ashlyn Weber, Mariah Messmer, Kendall Kolousek, and Ella Kolousek crossed the line in 1st place running 5:17.63.
Masynn Mebius was 5th in the 800m run with her 3:22.69. Running the 200m dash for the Spartans was Kendall Kolousek, 33.45; Kerstynn Heim, 35.61; and Celia Garcia, 37.39. Alexis Roesler was 4th in the 2-mile run, finishing in 14:34.16. The girls running the mile relay combined efforts to pass the baton around in 4:28.55 to regain the lead and cross the line in first place. Members on the winning relay were Bailey Yost, Logan Mohling, Mariah Messmer, and Kenzie Kolousek.
For the boys’ side, Grady Gran threw 37’ 11” to land in 6th place in shot put and he threw 105’ 7” in discus. Robbie Hine threw 33’ 6” in shot put and tossed the discus 124’ 7” to land in 4th place. Grason Finn leapt 14’ 10.75” in long jump. Ryder Michalek cleared 5’ 10” to take 1st place honors. Wesley Molnar tossed the javelin 93’ 0” and Nathan Gaikowski threw 132’ 7” to land in 2nd place.
The 2-mile relay of Will Grohs, Ranick Fjerstad, Sutten Jensen, and Kohen Mebius ran 9:53.14 to finish in 3rd place. Colby Flowers ran 19.36 in the 110m hurdles. Wesley Molnar ran 12.57 and Grason Finn ran 14.56 in the 100m dash. The 800m relay of Hayes Havlik, Nathan Gaikowski, Sam Poncelow, and Karter Mebius ran 1:39.38 for 3rd place. The 400m relay of Havlik, Molnar, Flowers, and Fjerstad ran 50.04 for 5th place. Will Grohs won the 400m dash in 57.83. Colby Flowers crossed the line in 3rd place in the 300m hurdles. The medley relay of Hayes Havlik, Nathan Gaikowski, Sam Poncelow, and Karter Mebius combined efforts of 3:51.39 for the first-place trophy. Kohen Mebius ran 2:34.06 in the 800m run to finish in 8th place.
Hayes Havlik ran 25.84 in the 200m dash to finish in 4th place. Wesley Molnar ran 26.98 in the 200m dash. In the 2-mile run, Spartans had two runners in the field; Sutten Jensen ran 12:19.72 for 5th place and Ranick Fjerstad ran 12:46.83 to finish in 6th place. The mile relay of Nathan, Will, Sam, and Karter passed the baton around in 3:46.49 to cross the finish line in 2nd place.
The Spartans were back in action on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, as they traveled down 281 to Corsica and then again on Friday, April 25, as they will participate in the 5th Annual Greenway Relays in Mount Vernon before the MS/ HS concert that same night.
