Building on her FCCLA Veterans Day project from last year, WSHS junior, Carissa Scheel, is continuing her mission of honoring local veterans.
During the home double-header basketball game versus Kimball-White Lake, on February 14, starting at 4 p.m., Scheel, with help from fellow FCCLA members, is hosting a Midwest Honor Flight Fundraiser.
“One way we can honor our hometown Veterans is by helping them apply for the Midwest Honor Flight and raising funds to send them to Washington, D.C.,” said Scheel.“The Midwest Honor Flight is organized so that we can honor and thank veterans by bringing them to Washington D.C., allowing them to experience the memorials commemorating soldiers and the wars they fought.”
Scheel invites the community to attend the event and help her fundraise through a freewill donation supper, silent auction, and “Sweet’s for your Sweetie” bake sale.
The event features fun for all ages including Popa- Shot at half time of the girls varsity game and Chuck-a-Duck at half time of the boys varsity game.
A Midwest Honor Flight representative will also be present to provide further details about the program.
