Planting Festival Draws Local and Out-of-Area Gardeners to Shakespeare Garden

Shakespeare Garden Society members and volunteers from near and far participated in the annual Planting Festival in Wessington Springs last week.

Following a “Blessing of the Garden” led by Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Pastor Nancy Rieke, work began and included planting the dozens of flower beds that embellish the landscape, digging holes for new trees, cleaning the fish pond and making the garden the stunning, serene destination that has drawn visitors from all over the world to Wessington Springs.

The historic garden has been a major attraction in the community for many years, hosting music and art events as well as various holiday special events. It has also been the site of many weddings, reunions and other family gatherings.
