Garden goodies galore and fresh chicken from Spring Valley Colony will make the first appearance of the 2023 season this Friday, July 7 in the Wessington Springs City Park. Marvin Stahl and his crew of trusty helpers will sell produce from 2 - 6 p.m. every Friday throughout the summer and early fall. Stahl said that the expansive garden at the colony was tough to get germinated this year due to drought conditions. “Irrigation doesn’t compare to Mother Nature,” he shared. “There’s nothing that can quite compare to rain water.” Stahl said that despite the dry conditions, they have plenty of early season vegetables including cauliflower, onion and broccoli for Friday, along with a wide variety of canned goods and fresh chicken.
