WSACF Celebrates 25 Years With $25,000 Fund Drive

What do the new Wessington Springswelcomesign, swimming pool, rec center, Imagination Library, Teeners Baseball, WSHS Athletic Hall of Fame, AWANA, Blue Bag Program and WSHS senior project support have in common? They were made possible in part due to gifts from the Wessington Springs Area Community Foundation (WSACF).

In its 25th year of serving the community, the WSACF has set a goal to raise $25,000 in celebration of the milestone. Donations made to the local fund stay invested forever and the earned interest is made available twice a year to local charitable or nonprofit groups like those listed above in one of five general areas: human service, education, economic development, health and cultural.

“If you have ever benefitted, please consider a small donation. The more we have in our fund, the more interest can be generated and the more we are able to give back to the community,” says WSACF board member Gwyneth Dean-Fastnacht.

Last year, after a generous $20,000 donation through the creation of the Jim and Bernice Burg Family Endowment, between $800-$900 more is generated by the fund annually.
