On January 20, 2024, Wessington Springs had three middle school (7-9 grade) students participate in the 2024 American Choral Directors Association Junior High Honor Choir: Brett Miller (Tenor), Felicity Ormsmith (Soprano) and Zachary Kruse (Bass). Each student had to submit auditions which included: singing a major scale, My Country Tis of Thee and a selection of literature A Capella (no piano). Zach and Brett were selected for the Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass (SATB) Choir and Felicity Ormsmith was selected for the SSA choir. They were selected out of over 700 applicants.
On February 8, 2024 three elementary students were selected to participate in the 2024 SDSU Festival Honor Choir: Wyatt Fagerhaug, Selah Havlik and Aunnika Heumiller. They also had to submit auditions and were selected out of over 700 students.
Next, the Wessington Springs High School choir participated in the Region V solo/ensemble contest on February 7, taking five large ensembles and 11 soloists. All five vocal ensembles received Superior ratings and nine soloists received Superior ratings. Two received Excellent ratings.
