Annual Brett Boomer Memorial Golf Classic Raises Funds for Alpena Fire Department

Nearly 60 golfers, as well as many onlookers, helpers, family and friends attended the 12th Annual Brett Boomer Memorial Golf Classic on what started out as a rainy Saturday morning on June 15, 2024, but soon turned to sunshine within the first few holes of the day.

After enjoying a breakfast buffet at Red Hog Pub and Casino, golfers and crew made their way to Broadland Creek Golf Course in Huron.

Once it cleared up, the roving “Hydration Station” leapt into action, keeping all of the golfers refreshed and hydrated as the day warmed up.

The winners of the 12th Annual Brett Boomer Memorial Golf Classic, were the team of Logan Korkow, Alex Scheel, Jared and Amanda Smith, with a score of 65.

After departing Broadland Creek, the group returned to the Red Hog, where staff had a large appetizer buffet waiting for the golfers.

Event organizers and attendees wish to express a big thanks to Tara, Shawn and the staff at the Red Hog Pub and Casino and a special thanks to Ben Dragt and his staff at the Broadland Creek for their help coordinating the event.

Event organizer Todd Boomer also thanked those who made generous cash donations to this year’s event: Calajean Kopfmann (Huron); Terry and Brenna Smith (Houston, TX); Todd and Jill Swenson, (Wessington Springs); Ron and Kim Winter, (Pleasanton, CA); Tom and Judy Penney, (Omaha, NE); Dave and Angie Uttecht, (Huron).
