The Blackhawks were fast out of the gates during last Friday’s home game against Lead/Deadwood, launching Wessington Springs/ Woonsocket/Sanborn Central to a 42-6 win over the Goldiggers.
“The Blackhawks took another good step forward,” said Head Coach Michael Schmitz. “We did some really good things on offense to continue to move the ball.
On offense, Payton Uecker had 13 rushes for 139 yards and two touchdowns. Holden Havlik ran twice for 28 yards and passed for 107 yards and two touchdowns one each to Ryder Michalek and Bryce Larson.
On defense, Grant Edwards had three tackles and three interceptions, one for a touchdown. Karter Mebius had five tackles.
Special teams was solid with a 50-yard punt return for a touchdown and Sam Poncelow making all six extra points.
The defense started to play faster with more confidence,” Schmitz added. “The team is really coming together and playing with a lot of fun.
