Darleen Cuppy wrote her news Monday morning and Delia Atkinson got it later in the forenoon. Darleen enjoyed the hamburger, tater tots, green beans and blueberry dessert from the Manor kitchen. Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins, and the Los Angeles Angels play in the evening. The LA Angels won 6-2.
Tuesday Darleen had the ham dinner and cake from the Manor kitchen. It was a nice day, so she went for a walk in the late afternoon. She then watched the Minnesota Twins and the LA Angels play later. The Twins won 10-5.
Wednesday Luella Teveldal was hostess for our 9 a.m. coffee. She had pretty fall plates and napkins. She served delicious caramel rolls made by Marla Ness. Enjoying the food and fellowship were Kathy Larson, Joyce Mees, Lorraine Schultz, Pastor Nancy Rieke, Judy Baumgart and Darleen Cuppy. Bingo was played at 2 p.m. Lyle Pawlowski called the numbers. Enjoying the afternoon were Joyce Mees, Eileen Thomas, Diane Carlson, Doris Deneke, Lynette Marken, Shirley Bender, Judy Baumgart, Marilyn Robbins and Darleen Cuppy. Luella Teveldal served a delicious cake with cool whip and coffee. Darleen’s granddaughter Becky Krueger was out walking in the evening and stopped in to visit Grandma Dar for a while. Later Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins play the LA Angels, and the Twins won again 6-4.
Thursday Darleen rode the bus with Joanne Grohs to Angie Mentzer’s beauty shop. Later she had so much pain in her left leg, she went to the clinic and saw Sara Cashman. She prescribed some pills for the pain. Darleen’s daughter Candi Sails got the pills from Lewis Drug, which relieved some of the pain.
Friday Darleen enjoyed the BBQ, potato salad and dessert bar from the Senior Center for dinner. Friday afternoon Darleen walked up to the south apartments to watch the Homecoming Parade at 2 p.m. She sat in her walker and visited with Vera Weber, Patty Keeton and Donna Jost. The parade was wonderful! The Varsity band looked so sharp in their uniforms and sounded awesome! There were many nice floats, and they tossed lots of candy. The grade school band sounded great too. The Legion drove through with flags displayed, and the volunteer firemen drove their firetrucks. Friday evening the Homecoming football game between the Blackhawks and the Webster Bearcats was on the TV school channel. Marcus Damm is a great announcer! The Blackhawks won big 50-12 over the Webster Bearcats!
Saturday Darleen’s daughter Candi Sails got some things she needed. Candi and Baleigh stayed to visit a while. Later Darleen watched the SDSU Jacks play the Augustana Vikings. The SDSU Jacks won 24-3.
Sunday Gladys Kieser, Elaine Roetman and Darleen Cuppy rode the bus with Delia Atkinson to the Methodist Church. Lisa Edwards played a beautiful prelude. Pastor Cheri Van Gorp welcomed everyone and said a prayer. Several announcements were made – the women’s fellowship will meet Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the north apartment dining room with Diane Winter being hostess, Diane announced she has apples to share. The Lord’s Prayer was said by all. The Choir, Lisa Edwards on piano, Kirk and Lynda Luymes, Diane and Darrel Winter, Laura Kieser, Sandy Wenzel, Gretchen Burnison, Lila Hoffman and Jan Krohmer sang a beautiful hymn. Several children went down for the children’s message. All sang the hymn “I Love to Tell the Story.” Pastor Cheri’s sermon was titled ”Good Old Days” with scripture from Joshua 4:12-24. Communion was served by Pastor Cheri and Randy Burnison. We closed with the hymn “Victory in Jesus.”
Darleen enjoyed the roast beef dinner and apple pie from the Manor, then watched the Minnesota Twins play Cincinnati. The Twins won big 9-2. Darleen went for a walk in the evening.
