Blackhawks Shutout Chamberlain 32-0

Moving to 6-1 on the season, No. 4 ranked Class 11B Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central celebrated at home with a 32-0 victory over Chamberlain on Friday in Wessington Springs.

“Overall, I was very happy with how we played tonight. We made some changes in our offense to put the kids in the best position possible. The team did a great job executing the plan and grinding out yards when we needed them to. We were able to throw the ball downfield and get some explosive plays,” said WWSSC Head Coach Michael Schmitz. “Defensively, we were able to get some turnovers and control the line of scrimmage. We have a big challenge ahead of us next week with Mount Vernon/ Plankinton, but we will enjoy this win this weekend.

In for normal starting quarterback Holden Havlik, Wesley Molnar was eight of 17 for 206 yards and had three touchdowns. Molnar connected with Ryder Michalek from 10 yards out before the half resulting in a 19-0 lead. In the second half, Molnar threw 69 yards to Sam Poncelow and 42 yards to Colby Flowers.

Grant Edwards was five for 50 yards and had two touchdowns — one from 29 yards and one from four. Bryce Larson carried the ball 11 times for 62 yards.

On the defensive side of things, Colby Flowers had four tackles and one sack while Dawson Larson had an interception.Nathan Gaikowski had six tackles and an interception.

On October 18, WWSSC will finish the regular season at No. 5 Mount Vernon/Plankinton.
