LETTERBOX: Join us for Dusting Off Dakota

Dear Editor,
Dusting Off Dakota is a grand reopening celebration and a rededication of Huron's historic downtown, marking the completion of an extensive streetscape renovation that gives Huron’s downtown a fresh new look.

The Grand Celebration begins July 3 at 4:30 with speakers, history and traditional 4th of July music at the historic Campbell Park band shell. The rededication ceremony will be followed by trolley rides down Dakota Avenue where guests can listen to local historical speakers all leading attendees to the Ribbon Cutting at 5:30 followed by more music, food trucks, vendors, bouncy houses, a ping pong ball drop and pet parade along with a car and motorcycle show, on Dakota Avenue, encouraging visitors to linger downtown for a fun family filled evening followed by a street dance featuring Seriously Shirley.

Stick around to the 4th of July for the annual Independence Day Parade at 10:30 am and BBQ in Campbell Park where there will be more bouncy house fun for the kids and vendors for the adults. You can cap off the trip with Fireworks over Ravine Lake beginning at 10:00 pm or travel north to Fireworks over Lake Byron.

Sincerely,
Laurie Shelton
