The Wessington Springs Fire Department hosted its annual “Fire in the Hole” Golf Tournament at Springs Country Club on Saturday, Aug. 23. Perfect weather and pristine course conditions welcomed 34 teams to a day of competition and community support.
Golfers vied for a variety of pin prizes throughout the tournament, highlighted by a $20,000 hole-in-one challenge sponsored by Krohmer Agency. Additional pin prize sponsors included Simplot, Dakota Fencing and Supply, American Bank and Trust, Wilbur Ellis, Mack Steel, Agtegra, the True Dakotan, and Amkota.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit the community’s annual Fourth of July fireworks as well as a memorial honoring fallen Wessington Springs firefighter Michial Brodkorb.
The Fire Department expressed gratitude to the Firemen’s Auxiliary for preparing a meal of walking tacos with all the fixings, plus bars for dessert. Donations of ground beef from Hine Farms and Layton Schimke made the meal possible.
Organizers also extended thanks to the sponsors, volunteers, and golfers whose support made this year’s event a success.
