Friday night proved difficult for the Wolsey-Wessington Warbirds, who fell 36-0 on the road vs. Castlewood.
Head Coach Donavon Smith said before the season that the team’s biggest challenge would be finding consistency. With injuries, late arrivals, and lineup shuffling, until last week, the Warbirds hadn’t had a full week with their core players on the field together. Smith emphasized earlier this fall that the program is focused on building toward October, when postseason positioning comes into play. Despite the rough start, he remains confident the Warbirds have the pieces to compete when healthy and settled.
Wolsey-Wessington will have extra time to reset before its next matchup against Platte/Geddes on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. in Huron.
