Grant Applications Due Oct. 31
Central Electric Cooperative reminds local organizations that the deadline to apply for its Operation Round-Up grant program is October 31. Groups can request up to $3,000 in funding for projects that make a difference in area communities.
Operation Round-Up proves that a little bit of generosity goes a long way. Each month, Central Electric members voluntarily round their bills up to the nearest dollar. Those spare cents combined with contributions from employees and board members are pooled together to fuel community projects across Aurora, Brule, Buffalo, Davison, Hanson, Jerauld, Miner, and Sanborn Counties. Since launching in 2015, the program has invested over $230,000 back into local communities.
In Jerauld and Buffalo Counties, Operation Round-Up has made a direct impact in recent funding cycles:
• The Abernathy Post 16, American Legion in Gann Valley received a grant to place grave markers honoring veterans.
• The Dunham Historical Society in Wessington Springswasawardedfunds for local preservation efforts.
• The J&B 4-H Shooting Sports club secured a grant to help purchase new equipment for youth participants.
Applications are reviewed twice a year. Organizations don’t have to be Central Electric members to apply, but their projects should benefit communities within the cooperative’s territory. The application is available at www.centralec.coop/ operation-round-up or by calling 1-800-477-2892.
