Horizon Health is sponsoring a special flu shot clinic at the Wessington Springs Senior Center.
The clinic is scheduled for October 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Walkins are welcome for the annual vaccination. Horizon Health requests that participants bring proof of insurance if available. The vaccination will cost $40 in most instances and insurance will be billed if applicable. According to Horizon’s Chief Medical Officer Misty Rudebusch, MPAS, PAC, once the calendar turns toward the fall and winter months, it’s important to think about respiratory health.
“Protecting your respiratory health also protects the health of your family, friends and neighbors,” she said. “Seasonal immunizations help keep your community well and prevent more serious illnesses and hospitalizations that can sideline you for days or weeks.”
Fall immunizations are especially important for:
• Older adults
• People with chronic conditions (e.g., heart disease, diabetes, asthma)
• Pregnant individuals and infants
• Children and schoolaged youth
• Health care workers and caregivers Benefits of receiving a flu shot helps individuals weather winter colds and flu but also helps protect those with compromised immune systems or who cannot take the shot.
“Getting your seasonal vaccines is one more step to keeping everyone well so we can cheer on our favorite sports teams and enjoy all the fun seasonal activities fall and the holidays provide,” said Dr. Terry Weaver, MD, a Wessington Springs provider.
If unable to attend, contact the clinic at 605-539-1778 to make an appointment and to find out more information about the flu shot clinic.
