The Wessington Springs Lady Spartans finished sixth at their home-court 281 Conference Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, going 1-2 on the day.
Seeded fourth, the Spartans opened against Highmore-Harrold, winning the first set 25-23. The Pirates regrouped to take the next two sets, 2520 and 25-15, sending the Spartans to the consolation bracket.
There, the Spartans swept eighth-seeded James Valley Christian, highlighted by a major milestone: senior libero Remie Roduner recorded her 1,000th career dig in the victory.
In the fifth-place match, the Spartans faced sixthseeded Iroquois-Lake Preston for the second time this season. The Sharks prevailed in straight sets, 25-20, 25-11, handing the Spartans a sixth-place finish.
Hitchcock-Tulare captured the tournament title, defeating top-seeded Wolsey-Wessington in the championship match.
The Lady Spartans hit the road this week for matches against Ethan and a rematch with Highmore-Harrold.
