James B. Short, 71, of Boone, Iowa, passed away at his home in Boone on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. He was born on May 12, 1954, in Wessington Springs, South Dakota, the son of Burton and Clara Short.He was preceded in death by his parents, and nephew, Mason Short.

Gary Kenneth Reff, 61, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Wessington Springs, SD on June 23, 2025. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Huron Christian Church, Huron SD. There was no graveside or burial at this time.

Marland Lee Linafelter, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 13, 2025, in Belle Fourche, South Dakota.Born on December 3, 1938, in Alpena, South Dakota, to Everett and Opal Linafelter, Marland was raised on a family farm north of Wessington Springs, South Dakota.

Charles Backlund, 92, of Pierre, SD, died Thursday, May 8, 2025, at home surrounded by family. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 15 at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Pierre, with visitation for one hour prior. Burial took place on Monday, May 19 at 1:30 p.m.

Hayden Goglin, age 19, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Huron, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, in Sioux Falls.His funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, April 10, at the Kuhler Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Prospect Hill Cemetery at Wessington Springs.
