“Cuppy’s Corner” by Dar Cuppy
Darleen Cuppy wrote her news Monday morning. Delia Atkinson came to get it later in the forenoon.
Darleen enjoyed the hamburger, onion rings, etc. from the Manor kitchen Monday noon. Darleen’s daughter Cindy Zenk called to let her know Darleen’s brotherin- law Jim Griggs passed away. His funeral will be on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Hartford, SD.
Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins play Seattle Mariners in the evening. Seattle won 7-6.
Tuesday Becky Krueger did some errands for Grandma Dar. Tuesday evening Roger Dwyer took Darleen Cuppy and Marlys Shryock to Bob and Gloria Brockman’s for supper to celebrate their 69th anniversary! A delicious supper was served by Joyce Krueger and Joanne Grohs. They had BBQs, beans, fruit salad and white & chocolate cake. Dan Brockman and daughters were there too. Many other friends and family attended the special event. Tuesday evening Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins and Seattle Mariners game. The Twins won 10-3.
Wednesday July 19th Eldora Hasz was hostess for our 9 a.m. coffee hour. Her sister Kathy Larson served glazed donuts for her. Enjoying the food and fellowship were Lorraine Schultz, Vera Salter, Luella Teveldal, Joyce Mees and Darleen Cuppy.
Becky Krueger stopped in to visit Grandma Dar on her way home from summer school. Bingo was played at 2 p.m. Lyle Pawlowski called the numbers. Enjoying the afternoon were Joyce Mees, Ruth Jensen, Shirley Bender, Doris Deneke, Darleen Higgins, Lynette Marken, Luella Teveldal, Marilyn Robbins and Darleen Cuppy. Coffee and cookies from Shirley Bender and Darleen Cuppy were served.
Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins and Seattle Mariners Wednesday night. The Twins won 6-3.
Thursday Darleen Cuppy rode the bus with Joanne Grohs to Angie Mentzer’s. Darleen enjoyed the chicken sandwich, etc. from the Senior Center. Thursday afternoon the Minnesota Twins played the Seattle Mariners. Seattle won 5-0.
Friday Darleen Cuppy and Becky Krueger were grateful for the ride to the funeral service for Darleen’s brother-in-law Jim Grigg with Cheryl and Craig Van Asperen. The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church rural Hartford. Jim is survived by daughters Kristie and Scott Kalb of Hartford and Beckie Jo and Bob Wetzler of Gregory, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Darleen’s youngest sister (Ila) Sally Griggs passed away on October 12, 2004 in a tragic accident on their acreage near Hartford. Other families attending Jim’s service were Cindy and Fred Zenk of Webster, Cathy White, Ella and Nora of Sioux Falls, Sally (Caffee) Wulf of Miller and Marian Caffee of Mitchell. The ladies of the church served a chicken dinner and an assortment of cake and cookies.
Saturday Darleen enjoyed the pork chop dinner from the Manor kitchen. In the evening Darleen watched the Twins play the Chicago White Sox. The Twins won 3-2.
Sunday Darleen Cuppy, Rochelle Witte and Mary Lou Cameron rode the bus with Joanne Grohs to the Methodist church for the 11 a.m. service. Jessica Kingery played a beautiful Prelude and for the hymns. Responsive Reading was led by Lynda Luymes. We sang “Fairest Lord Jesus.” Announcements were: Please help with the plans for fall, Gerald and Julie Kraft helped at Bible Camp, Gretchen Burnison brought rhubarb for a free will donation for the church, sign up to bring treats for coffee hour, there were many beautiful bouquets from Mark Fuerst’s funeral, prayers for Darrell Winter. The offering was taken, and Doxology was sung. Pastor Kingery’s sermon was “Take Heart.” We closed with the hymn “Victory in Jesus.” Benediction was Ephesians 3:20.
Darleen enjoyed the Swiss steak dinner and pie from the Manor kitchen. The Minnesota Twins played the Chicago White Sox at 1 p.m. The Twins won in the 12th inning 5-4.
