Darleen Cuppy wrote her Cuppy’s Corner News Monday morning. Delia came to get it later in the forenoon. It was a nice day – Delia didn’t need to wear a coat! Darleen enjoyed the roast beef dinner from the Manor kitchen. Darleen watched the SDSU Lady Jacks play the USD Lady Coyotes Monday at 1 p.m. The Jacks won 76-63.
Tuesday Darleen enjoyed the pork dinner from the Manor kitchen. Her great granddaughter Carlie Bell, Brian & Julie Bell’s daughter of Mitchell, called to interview Darleen on “How technology has changed in my lifetime.” It was for a school project.
Wednesday Joyce Mees was hostess for our 9 a.m. coffee. She had the table set pretty with green plates and streamers. She served delicious rhubarb muffins. Enjoying the food and fellowship were Darleen Higgins, Lorraine Schultz, Vera Salter, Judy Baumgart, Kathy Larson and Darleen Cuppy.
Bingo was played at 2 p.m. Shirley Bender called the numbers. Enjoying the afternoon were Darleen Higgins, Doris Deneke, Lynette Marken, Marlys Shryock, Judy Baumgart, Marilyn Robbins, Joyce Mees, Ruth Jensen and Darleen Cuppy. Coffee and delicious banana bread from Lynette Marken and cinnamon rolls from Shirley Bender were enjoyed.
Thursday forenoon Darleen Cuppy rode the bus to Angie Mentzer’s for a perm.
Thursday March 14 the boys State B basketball tournament started in Aberdeen. Our Wessington Springs Spartans played Howard. The Howard Tigers won 53-48.
Friday March 15 our Wessington Springs Spartans played Viborg-Hurley at 12 p.m. Our Spartans won 52-39, Darleen’s great grandson Brock Krueger is on the team.
Saturday our Spartans played Gregory. The Spartans won 55-51, so our Spartans placed 5th. The DeSmet Bulldogs and the Howard Tigers played at 8 p.m. It went into overtime! The Howard Tigers won 60-55 which made them the State Champions. Darleen enjoyed watching all the games on TV. Darleen’s family that attended all or some games were Becky, Mike and Rydell Krueger, Cheryl and Craig Van Asperen, Brian, Julie, Carlie and Berklie Bell, Cindy Zenk, Danny and Kaela Jo Zenk, Lucas Owen and Luella Jo of Britton, Candi and Baleigh Sails, and Cathy and Nora White of Sioux Falls.
Sunday Darleen Cuppy rode the bus with Delia Atkinson to the Methodist Church. Pastor Cheri Van Gorp led the service. The offering was taken, and the Doxology sung. The choir sang a beautiful anthem. Choir members are Jan Krohmer, Laura Kieser, Diane Winter, Lila Hoffman, Julie Kraft, Gretchen Burnison, Sandy Beckman, Lynda Luymes, Chris Schimke, Darrel Winter and Kirk Luymes. Pastor Cheri’s sermon was “Go to Dark Gethsemane.” We closed with the hymn “I Stand Amazed in the Presence.”
Darleen enjoyed the dinner and key lime pie from the Manor.
