“Cuppys Corner”

Darleen Cuppy wrote her news Monday morning; Delia Atkinson got it later in the forenoon.

Darleen watched the Minnesota Vikings play the San Francisco 49ers in the evening. The Vikings won 22-17.

Tuesday Darleen enjoyed the chicken dinner and chocolate pudding from the Manor kitchen. Our janitor Monte Knippling put the cover on my air conditioner and a light bulb in my hallway. So grateful it is done.

Wednesday Kathy Larson was hostess for our 9 a.m. coffee. She served big muffins. Enjoying the food and fellowship were Darleen Higgins, Lorraine Schultz, Vera Salter, Eldora Hasz, Luella Teveldal, Pastor Nancy Rieke, Joyce Mees, Judy Baumgart and Darleen Cuppy. Pastor Nancy served Communion.

Bingo was played at 2 p.m. with Shirley Bender calling the numbers. Enjoying the afternoon were Ruth Jensen, Diane Carlson, Joyce Mees, Marilyn Robbins, Lynette Marken, Judy Baumgart, Luella Teveldal, Marlys Shryock and Darleen Cuppy. Banana bread, nut bread and coffee were served by Lynette Marken and Shirley Bender.

In the evening Darleen’s granddaughter Becky Bell Krueger brought supper to honor Howard and Darleen’s 72nd anniversary. They were married on October 25th in Templeton Church with Reverand R. Kline officiating. Howard passed away January 4, 2011. His funeral was on January 10th. It was a very blizzardy day. “He is always in my heart.”

Thursday Darleen rode the bus to Angie Mentzer’s to get her hair done. Darleen enjoyed the Mr. rib sandwich, coleslaw and chocolate pudding from the Senior Center. It was delivered by Rhonda LePage.

Friday Darleen enjoyed the broasted chicken, hash browns and pie from the Senior Center. It was delivered by Joanne Grohs. Darleen watched the World Series Friday evening. The Arizona Diamondbacks played the Texas Rangers. The Texas Rangers won 6-5 in the 11th inning!

Saturday, we had snow! There was enough to cover the roof of the building across from Darleen’s apartment.

Darleen enjoyed the hot beef sandwich and angel food cake dessert from the Manor kitchen. Then she enjoyed watching the SDSU Jacks play the USD Coyotes. The Jacks won 373.

Sunday morning Darleen Cuppy, Rochelle Witte and Elaine Roetman rode the bus with Delia Atkinson to the Methodist Church for the 11 a.m. service. Lisa Edwards played a beautiful Prelude. Chris Schimke led the Responsive Reading. We sang the hymn “Stand Up and Bless the Lord.” The choir members Laura Kieser, Sandy Wenzel, DianeWinter,JanKrohmer, Julie Kraft, Lynda Luymes, Kirk Luymes, Darrell Winter and Chris Schimke sang a beautiful anthem. The offering was taken by Jeff Kieser and Neal Doering and the Doxology was sung. Tammy Mettler led the Youth Moment. We sang “The Gift of Love.” The sermon was Gifts by Pastor Kingery on the big screen. We closed with the hymn “Seek Ye First.”

Darleen enjoyed the dinner from the Manor kitchen. Then she watched the Minnesota Vikings play the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings won 24-10!

Sunday evening Darleen Cuppy and Luella Teveldal enjoyed the baked potato and pie supper from the Eastern Star. Ann Thomas and family also ate in the dining room with us. Several others went back to their apartments.
