“Cuppys Corner”

Darleen wrote her news Monday forenoon. Delia Atkinson got it later in the forenoon. Darleen enjoyed the roast beef dinner and cake from the Manor kitchen. (No Minnesota Twins game.)

Tuesday Darleen enjoyed the shredded pork sandwich, green beans and pudding from the Manor kitchen. Darleen’s daughter Cindy Zenk of Webster drove Darleen to Huron for a hearing test at 1 p.m. We got home about 4:30 p.m. and Darleen now has hearing aids. Tuesday evening Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins play the New York Yankees. The Yankees won 5-1.

Judy Baumgart was hostess for our 9 a.m. coffee on Wednesday. She served vanilla and chocolate Hostess cakes. Enjoying the food and fellowship were Vera Salter, Lorraine Schultz, Luella Teveldal, Kathy Larson, Joyce Mees and Darleen Cuppy. Pastor Nancy Rieke came later.

Bingo was played at 2 p.m. Shirley Bender called the numbers. Enjoying the afternoon were Joyce Mees, Judy Baumgart, Doris Deneke, Marilyn Robbins, Lynette Marken, Eileen Thomas, Ruth Jensen, Diane Carlson, Luella Teveldal and Darleen Cuppy. Coffee and a delicious lemon cake dessert from Lynette Marken and pretzel snack mix from Marilyn Robbins were enjoyed. In the evening Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins play the New York Yankees. The Yankees won again 9-5.

Thursday Darleen Cuppy rode the bus to Angie Mentzer’s beauty shop for her 10:30 a.m. appointment.

Darleen enjoyed the beef tips over rice, peas and pudding from the Manor kitchen. Thursday evening Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins play the New York Yankees. They had a rain delay in the 6th inning. The New York Yankees won again 8-5.

Friday Darleen enjoyed the shrimp, rice, coleslaw and pineapple from the Senior Center. In the afternoon Darleen’s granddaughter Becky Krueger visited. They are a very busy family! In the evening Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins play the Pittsburg Pirates. The Pittsburg Pirates won 2-0.

Saturday Darleen enjoyed the BBQ ribs, baked beans, coleslaw and cornbread from the Manor kitchen. Saturday afternoon Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins and the Pittsburg Pirates game. The Pirates won 4-0.

Sunday Darleen Cuppy, Gladys Kieser, Rochelle Witte and Mary Lou Cameron rode the bus with Delia Atkinson to the Methodist Church. Lisa Edwardsplayedabeautiful prelude. Pastor Cheri Van Gorp welcomed everyone and said a prayer, “Praises to the King.” The choir, Chris Schimke, Darrel Winter, Lynda Luymes, Lila Hoffman, Gretchen Burnison, Sandy Wenzel and Laura Kieser, with Kirk Luymes on guitar and Jan Krohmer on the flute sang “Ancient Words” and “The House of the Lord.” Several joys and concerns were shared. We all said the Lord’s Prayer. The choir sang a beautiful anthem, offering was taken, and Pastor Cheri had the children come down for a message. Pastor Cheri’s sermon was on “The Enemy.” We closed with the hymn “We’ll Understand it Better By and By.”

Darleen enjoyed the roast pork dinner and chocolate pie from the Manor kitchen. In the afternoon Darleen watched the Minnesota Twins play the Pittsburg Pirates. It went to 10 innings! The Twins won 11-5!! Sunday evening Darleen’s daughter Candi Sails brought supper from the Cone Zone. Also coming to visit were Baleigh Grace Sails and Deion James Sails and his children Athena Skye and baby son True James. Deion graduated from barber school in Rapid City and has moved to Sioux Falls to work in a barber shop.
