“Cuppy’s Corner”

I wrote Cuppy’s Corner News Monday morning. Delia Atkinson got it later in the forenoon. I attended the Weskota Apartments membership meeting in the dining room at 10 a.m. Kristy Olinger called the meeting to order. The carpets and patio door need attention. I am a new board member. Coffee and cookies were enjoyed by those attending the meeting. My granddaughter Becky Krueger took me to the foot doctor at 12:15 p.m. I enjoyed the ham dinner from the Senior Center. My granddaughter Baleigh Grace Sails came after school and ate supper with me. We enjoyed the grade school Christmas concert on the school channel. It was wonderful!

Tuesday, I had physical therapy at 10:45 a.m. with Brittany for muscle spasms. I enjoyed the pork dinner from the Manor kitchen. The Methodist Women’s Fellowship met in the dining room at 2:30 p.m. Attending were Pastor Cheri Van Gorp, Diane Winter, Elaine Roetman, Sandy Wenzel, Cheryl Manthei, Julie Kraft, Mary Jane Belz, Rochelle Witte, Peg Olson, Julie Kaus and me. Delicious mint brownies, ice cream and coffee were served by Diane Winter.

Wednesday Joyce Mees was hostess for the 9 a.m. coffee in the dining room. She served a delicious coffeecake. Also, Pastor Nancy Rieke brought an assortment of delicious Christmas cookies. Enjoying the food and fellowship were Judy Baumgart, Luella Teveldal, Kathy Larson, Lorraine Schultz, and me.

Wednesday afternoon Judy Winegar came with a wonderful cheer box of Christmas cookies, snack mix and an orange, etc. from Templeton Women’s Fellowship. I have been enjoying it very much! My granddaughter Baleigh Sails came after school on Wednesday. She enjoyed some of the cookies too! Candi brought some homemade chicken noodle soup for our supper. It was delicious! Later in the evening we enjoyed Christmas carolers in the hall, it was so beautiful.

Thursday, I rode the BY DARLEEN CUPPY

bus to Angie Mentzer’s beauty shop for a 10:30 a.m. appointment. I enjoyed the beef tips on rice dinner and brownie from the Manor kitchen. Baleigh Sails came after school and for supper. We enjoyed the basketball games on the school channel. At 5 p.m. the WS Spartans JV girls played the Faulkton Trojans. The Spartans won 26-12, then the Varsity girls played. The Faulkton Trojans won 55-47. Then at 8 p.m. the Spartan boys played Faulkton and won big 61-24.

Friday, I enjoyed the chicken pot pie and tossed salad and sauce from the Senior Center. I had physical therapy on my neck at 1:45 p.m. with Jen Jensen. Candi and Baleigh Sails brought me a delicious meatloaf supper and visited a while. Candi had typed my Christmas letter and ran off copies for me, I’m very grateful.

Saturday Candi took me to the Opera House for the 2 p.m. funeral service for my good friend Cheryl (Sherry) Kleppin. Rev. Jim Harmon presided, Ted Powell was pianist, and a solo “My Mother” was sung by Deach Koch. Candi was a classmate of Kerrie Kleppin-Winn.

Sunday, I rode the bus to the Methodist Church with Joanne Grohs. Also riding were Rochelle Witte, Elaine Roetman, and Mary Lou Cameron. Lisa Edwards played a beautiful prelude. Pastor Cheri welcomed everyone and said a prayer. Candi and Baleigh Sails lit the Advent Candle of Joy. We sang “O Come O Come, Emmanuel.” Candi put a pickup truck with a Christmas tree in the back ornament on the Tree of Love in memory of her dad Howard Cuppy. Laura Kieser and Diane Patton added items too. Rod Huisman announced we will be starting Sunday school and will need teachers. Several joys and concerns were shared. We all said the Lord’s Prayer. The offering was taken and Doxology sung. The choir, Jan Krohmer, Laura Kieser, Candi Sails, Sandy Beckman, Diane Winter, Lila Hoffman, Darrel Winter, Chris Schimke and Kirk Luymes sang special music. Pastor Cheri’s sermon was “Interruptions” Luke 1:26-38. We closed with the hymn “Angels We Have Heard on High.” I enjoyed the pork dinner and cream pie from the Manor kitchen.
