I wrote my news Monday morning. Delia Atkinson came to get it later in the forenoon. I enjoyed the Philly beef sandwich, etc. from the Manor kitchen. In the afternoon I visited out front with Donna Satter and Kathy Brandenburg. At 7 p.m. the MN Vikings played the Chicago Bears. The Star-Spangled Banner was sung as a big flag was unrolled. It was very impressive. My daughter Candi brought supper from the Cone Zone, a delicious cheeseburger, coleslaw and tator tots. It was so nice to have Candi watch the football game with me, and the Vikings won 27-24.
Pastor Cheri visited me Tuesday forenoon. She had surgery on her shoulder and had a black brace on it. At 2:30 p.m. the Methodist women’s fellowship met in the dining room. Pastor Cheri was hostess. She had pretty lime green napkins and cups for root beer floats, and she served crackers and cheese, and then coffee with brownies. Enjoying the food and fellowship were Mary Lou Cameron, Darleen Cuppy, Eileen Thomas, Sandy Wenzel, Mary Jane Belz, Rochelle Witte, Diane Winter and Cheryl Manthei.
Wednesday September 10, I was hostess for our 9 a.m. coffee. I had sunflowers for the centerpiece, small green plates and yellow napkins. I served delicious caramel and frosted rolls made by Marla Ness. Also, a snack mix of small cheese crackers and M&M candy. Enjoying the food and fellowship were Joyce Mees, Luella Teveldal, Lorraine Schultz, Judy Baumgart, Kathy Brandenburg and Millie the mail lady. I enjoyed the fried chicken dinner, potato salad and apple dessert from the Manor kitchen. Bingo was played at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. Shirley Bender called the numbers. Enjoying the afternoon were Joyce Mees, Darleen Cuppy, Luella Teveldal, Judy Baumgart, and Eileen Thomas.
Thursday, I rode the bus with Joanne Grohs to Angie Mentzer’s beauty shop for a 10:30 a.m. appointment. I had the beef tips on rice, peas and delicious dessert from the Manor kitchen. There was no Twins game. My daughter Candi got some things I needed and stayed to visit for a while.
Friday, I enjoyed the chicken noodle hot dish, carrots and delicious custard dessert from the Manor kitchen. Friday evening, I watched the MN Twins play Arizona. The Twins won 9-8.
Saturday, I enjoyed watching the SDSU Jacks play Drake. My daughter Cindy Zenk of Webster called to let me know they were playing and what channel the game was on. The SDSU Jacks won 37-28 over Drake.
Sunday, I watched the Christian Worship Hour with Pastor Salem on TV. I enjoyed the ham dinner and pie from the Manor kitchen. At 1 p.m. I watched the MN Twins play the AZ Diamondbacks. They had a very impressive opening. It was Armed Forces Day with many in Army and Navy uniforms. A 100-year-old Army veteran was interviewed. The AZ Diamondbacks won 6-4 over the MN Twins. At 7:30 p.m. the MN Vikings played the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta Falcons won 12-6. I enjoyed having Candi come and watch the game with me.
