Foothills News: “Cuppy’s Corner”

I wrote my news Monday morning. Delia Atkinson came to get it later in the forenoon. I enjoyed the hamburger, tator tots, green beans and peach sauce from the Manor kitchen. My daughter Cindy Zenk of Webster had a meeting in Huron. She came in the evening to visit me and brought pizza for supper; I had a Pepsi to go with it. She drove home after supper.

Tuesday, I enjoyed the ham dinner and cake from the Manor kitchen. In the afternoon, Fred and Cindy Zenk, daughter Crissa Fruechte and 2-year-old Wells of rural Pipestone, MN stopped to visit Grandma Dar. They brought me a pretty plant with red flowers. I was disappointed Homecoming Coronation was not on the school channel Tuesday evening. Congratulations to Queen Logan Mohling and King Luke Larson.

Wednesday 9 a.m. coffee hostess was Luella Teveldal. She served delicious caramel and frosted rolls made by Marla Ness. Enjoying the food and fellowship were Joyce Mees, Darleen Cuppy, Lorraine Schultz, Judy Baumgart and the mail lady Millie. I enjoyed the roast beef dinner and cherry dessert from the Manor kitchen. Bingo was played at 2 p.m. in the dining room. Joyce Mees called the numbers. Enjoying the afternoon were Marilyn Robbins, Doris Deneke, Luella Teveldal, Eileen Thomas, Judy Baumgart and Darleen Cuppy. (I had good luck!) Coffee and delicious cupcakes from Joyce Mees were enjoyed. At 7 p.m. the MN Twins played the Texas Rangers. Texas won 4-2.

Thursday, I enjoyed the pork chop dinner and pudding from the Manor kitchen. At 1:30 p.m. the MN Twins played the Texas Rangers. Twins won 4-0! My daughter Candi Sails got some groceries for me. In the evening my granddaughter Becky Bell Krueger helped with several things.

Friday was the Homecoming Parade and football game. I walked up to the south apartments and sat with Kari Waters to watch the wonderful parade! The school band looked great and sounded awesome! Many floats were decorated with the theme Dr. Seuss books “Cat in the Hat.” Lots of candy was tossed out from the floats! At 7 p.m. I watched the football game on the school channel. The WWSSC Bucks won the game 13-6 over Wagner Red Raiders.

Saturday, I enjoyed one of my favorite meals from the Manor kitchen, BBQ ribs, baked beans, coleslaw and cornbread. At 5 p.m. the Minnesota Twins played the Phillies. The Twins won big 5-0. After the game I visited out front with Kathy Brandenburg and Judy Baumgart.

Sunday, I rode the bus with Delia Atkinson. Mary Lou Cameron and Rochelle Witte also rode the bus to the Methodist Church. Lisa Edwards played a beautiful prelude. Pastor Cheri welcomed everyone and said a prayer. We sang “Praises to the King” and “Thou Art Worthy” and “How Majestic Is Your Name.” The noisy offering was taken by ushers Lynn and Marcus Damm. Several joys and concerns were shared. We sang “Happy Birthday Dear Friends.” We then said the “Lord’s Prayer.” The regular offering was taken, and we sang “I am Thine, O Lord.” Pastor Cheri ‘s sermon was “Why Do You Believe in God” with scripture 1Peter 3:3-7. We closed with the hymn “I Know Whom I Have Believed.”

I enjoyed the ham dinner and apple pie when I got home from church.

“There is nothing stronger in the world than gentleness.”
