Foothills News: “Cuppy’s Corner”

I wrote my news Monday morning. Delia came to get it later in the forenoon. I enjoyed the hamburger, tator tots, green beans and melon from the Manor kitchen. In the evening, I went out for a walk – nice to enjoy the fresh air and exercise.

The Methodist Women’s Fellowship met in the north apartments dining room Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Attending was Diane Patton, Elaine Roetman, Darleen Cuppy, Sandy Wenzel, Pastor Cheri Van Gorp, Mary Lou Cameron and her daughter Wendy from Oregon, Rochelle Witte, Cheryl Manthei, Diane Winter and Mary Jane Belz. Lunch was served by Pastor Cheri and Sandy Wenzel. They had a delicious bundt cake with caramel sauce and coffee and tea. Tuesday evening, my daughter Candi Sails came after work at the Cone Zone. It was her birthday, so she brought delicious cupcakes. She took a picture of us taking a bite of the cupcake and posted it on my photo frame and Facebook. I’ve enjoyed seeing them several times.

Kathy Brandenburg was hostess for our 9 a.m. coffee on Wednesday. She served delicious cookies and potato chips. Attending were Lorraine Schultz, Luella Teveldal, Joyce Mees, Darleen Cuppy and Millie our mail lady. Verla Barber and her daughter Diane stopped in later to visit. I enjoyed the roast beef dinner from the Manor kitchen. At 2 p.m. I went up to the south dining room to play cards, 10-point Pitch. Others playing were Shirley Bender, Ruth Jensen, Joyce Mees, Luella Teveldal, Marilyn Robbins and Doris Deneke. (No coffee and cookies.) Soup for the Soul was served in the Manor dining room from 4-7 p.m. Doris Deneke was planning on going. My legs were hurting so I gave Doris $5 to give as a donation. I went to my apartment to sit in my recliner to elevate my legs. Later Doris came to my door with a cup of soup, a filled bun sandwich and a cookie. I didn’t expect to get food, just wanted to donate to a good project.

Thursday, I rode the bus to Angie Mentzer’s beauty shop for my 10:30 a.m. appointment. My granddaughter Tiara Sails from Sioux Falls came to visit me, her lady friend Pat drove. They brought broasted chicken and potato wedges for dinner. She got some clothes she had left before.

Friday Rhonda LePage delivered my medics pill pack from Lewis Drug. I had chicken noodle hot dish and cookies from my daughter Candi. Friday evening, I watched the high school football game on the school channel. The local Wessington Springs-Woonsocket-Sanborn Central Bucks played the Mt. Vernon/Plankinton Titans. Marcus did a great job in announcing the game! I know we lost – I can’t find my score sheet.

Saturday, I had one of my favorite meals from the Manor kitchen – BBQ ribs, baked beans, potato salad and peach sauce. My daughter Candi got some things I needed and stayed to visit a while. Sunday, I had a headache, so I didn’t ride the bus to the Methodist Church. I rested a while, then I watched the Christian Worship Hour with Pastor Salem on TV. I enjoyed the pork dinner and apple pie from the Manor kitchen. The MN Vikings played the Philadelphia Eagles. The Vikings got beat bad!

I have been enjoying the beautiful fall red and yellow leaves on the tree out my big window.
