Foothills News: “Cuppy’s Corner”

On Monday, January 19, 2026, it was very cold and blustery day. There was no school due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Becky stopped to remind me that there would not be any mail delivered today because of the Holiday as well. I watched the Spartans play in the 281 basketball tournament. Our girls lost to the Highmore-Harrold Pirates 66-49. Then the Spartan boys won their game, beating Iroquois-Lake Preston Sharks 75-50.

On Tuesday, January 20 I enjoyed my breakfast of Coca Wheats, scrambled eggs, and a donut. Then Cheryl came to be with me while Dr. Limm came to check on me. I had a chest x-ray completed. Michelle was here to have me do my exercises for therapy. After the bus route, Becky stopped in to see how my appointment went.

On Wednesday, Jan 21st I enjoyed Cocoa Wheats and toast for breakfast. At lunch, I ate spaghetti, green beans, and chocolate cake. Sandy Wolfcale washed and set my hair. Becky visited me before supper. Becky brought me some snacks to enjoy for my full day of basketball tomorrow and wrote the basketball schedule out for me, so I am ready for all the games tomorrow. I am sure thankful I can watch them on TV.

On Thursday, January 22, I had a good dinner. We had a bun with meat and cheese, pasta salad, peas, and pear sauce. I completed my therapy. Then the Spartan girls lost to Wolsey-Wessington 51-43. The lady Spartans ended the 281 basketball tournament in 4th place. The Spartans lost the boys’ championship game to SCW, 51-47.

Friday, January 23 was very cold! I ate a great breakfast. I ate waffles, sausage, and had a baked egg. Jen Jensen came in to do my therapy exercises with me. We had hot dogs, beans, pasta salad, and apricots for lunch. I played BINGO in the afternoon and was lucky to win five times! Candi came to visit.

Saturday, January 24 was another extremely cold day. Breakfast was good. Then for lunch we had hot beef sandwich. In the afternoon, I had hot tea with a cookie and ice cream. I could not watch the Spartans play Freeman on TV. Becky said the boys lost a close game, 51-48 in the Corn Palace.

Sunday, January 25, 2026, they say it is another below zero day. I had Cream of Wheat for breakfast. Then I ate turkey, potatoes & gravy, and squash. Dessert was chocolate pudding pie. I attended the 3 p.m. church service with the Methodist Church leading the service. Pastor Cheri gave the message. We sang some favorite hymns and Pastor played the piano for us. After the service we had a delicious snack of angel food cake, strawberries, and soft serve ice cream! It was very tasty. Becky called before supper. Fred and Cindy did a video chat with me. Mike and Becky Krueger stopped after supper. We watched the LA Rams and Seattle Seahawks football game.
