Foothills News: “Cuppy’s Corner”

I wrote my Cuppy’s Corner News Monday morning. Delia Atkinson got it later in the forenoon. It was a nice day; she didn’t even need a jacket! I enjoyed the hamburger dinner and peach sauce from the Manor kitchen. My daughter Candi Sails took my birthday money to the bank and got a few things I needed.

Tuesday, Loni Reindl Reif came at 10:30 a.m. to give me a massage; a gift from my daughter Cindy Zenk. I enjoyed the ham dinner and cake from the Manor kitchen. The Wessington Springs Spartan girls played at Castlewood at 7 p.m. The Spartans won 49-48.

The Wednesday 9 a.m. coffee was hosted by Lorraine Schultz. She served delicious, filled pastries, club crackers and cheese and a mint. Enjoying the food and fellowship along with me were Kathy Larson and Luella Teveldal. I enjoyed the roast beef dinner and cherry dessert Wednesday noon. Bingo was played at 2 p.m. Lyle Pawlowski called the numbers. Enjoying the afternoon were Ruth Jensen, Doris Deneke, Shirley Bender, Marilyn Robbins, Luella Teveldal and me. Shirley Bender served pizza and 7UP and Marilyn Robbins served a delicious dessert. My granddaughter Baleigh Sails came after school and for supper. Candi Sails was working in Mitchell. My granddaughter Becky Bell Krueger came in the evening and helped me with several things. I am very grateful.

Thursday, I rode the bus to Angie Mentzer’s beauty shop for a 10:30 a.m. appointment. I had meatloaf and mandarin oranges for dinner. Baleigh Sails came after school and for supper. We watched the Wessington Springs Spartan girls and the Deubrook Dolphins basketball game played in the Huron Arena. Deubrook Dolphins won 69-45.

Friday, I enjoyed one of my favorite meals from the Manor kitchen, a slice of pizza, lettuce salad and chocolate cake. I enjoyed Pepsi with the pizza and a cup of tea with the chocolate cake later. The WS boys played SCW Blackhawks Friday in Woonsocket at 6:30, the JV played with a score of Spartans 13 and Blackhawks 37 and Varsity Spartans scored 71 to Blackhawks 64.

March 1st was on Saturday. Baileigh Sails spent the day with Grandma Dar. Candi was working in Mitchell. We enjoyed the BBQ ribs, coleslaw and cornbread from the Manor kitchen.

Sunday Rochelle Witte and I rode the bus with Joanne Grohs to the Methodist Church. Pastor Cheri was sick, so Rod Huisman led the service. The prelude was “I Need You Lord” sung by Kirk Luymes and Lila Hoffman. The welcome and prayer were said by Rod Huisman. We sang “Come Thou Fount” and “Victory in Jesus.” Several joys and concerns were shared. We all said the Lord’s Prayer. Elton Kaus and Roger Dwyer took the offering as we sang “Amazing Grace.” Rod Huisman gave the sermon on “Christian Worship.” We closed with the hymn “I Stand Amazed in the Presence.”

I enjoyed the roast beef dinner and chocolate pie from the Manor kitchen. My granddaughter Becky Bell Krueger came in the evening and helped me with several projects.
