Last week the boys’ basketball team participated in the state tournament. Players, students, and fans all came to Aberdeen and made sure to be loud and proud, but outside of the games everyone was also busy. Student groups would wake up in the mornings and decide what we would want to do for the day since the games were all night games except for the first one. We would get ready for the day, go to Starbucks, and since it just so happened that the Starbucks was in Target, we got a little shopping in. Once we got done with our shopping trips, we would go back to our rooms and get dressed for the dress up days. Once that was done, we would head to the event center for the boys’ pep rally and then head to the game. Once the game was done, we would go back to the house and play card games, poker, and listen to music.
As for the adults, they spent time getting their kids and themselves ready for the game. They would do a little bit of shopping and then go to the pep rally before the boys’ games. Some went out to eat and others would stay and watch the other basketball games while eating at the game. They would set up the event center before the boys would get there too. They all showed up to the game decked out in their Spartan gear each day and cheered louder than everyone!
Lastly, the basketball team not only played their hearts out on the court but outside of basketball they were plenty busy. On Wednesday they attended the FCA (Fellow ship of Christian Athletes) banquet. Then they went and had practice at the Aberdeen Central gym and shot around there every day. On the last day they had some fun and went to Allevity Entertainment where they played Lazer tag, bumper cars, mini bowling, climbing walls, and an arcade. Every night after a game they would watch film from their last game to see what they need to fix and then they would watch the other team’s games.
