Student-Led Scholarship Blood Drive Saves Lives in Wessington Springs
Editor and community, The Wessington Springs community once again showed its strong commitment to helping patients in need during the Sydney Richardson Scholarship Blood Drive, held on December 15. The drive was organized by Sydney Richardson, a local high school student, and marked the second individual blood drive she has successfully led, a true testament to how young leaders can make a powerful difference.
A total of 40 donors registered, resulting in 42 units of lifesaving blood collected, which can help up to 126 patients in area hospitals. The drive also welcomed six first-time blood donors, helping strengthen the future of the blood supply.
This drive is a perfect example of what can happen when young people step up and lead. Sydney’s dedication, organization, and passion for helping others are truly inspiring. She proves that age is not a barrier to making a real and lasting impact.
In addition to strong donor turnout, the drive celebrated several generous milestone donors whose continued commitment helps ensure blood is available when patients need it most.
