The void………..those unexpected events that blind side us. We have the option to react or respond. Our choice will make all the difference in the outcome as we overcome with victory.
A family in our community recently lost a child. The ripple effect has been enormous. The Caruthers family has responded with sacrificial courage and I am humbled when thinking of those who will be given life from their loss. This child did not die in vain.
The Dunsmore family has lost their home but respond with gratitude for their lives. Family has stepped up to the plate and they have the shelter of a home. Every one of them hunker down and respond with determination to carry on. Animals must be cared for. Kids head back to school. A new normal is being forged each day. Community reaches out offering help wherever needed. As stated in Philippians 3:14 “We press on”.
The Patriarch, Willard Calkins, of April’s family passed Friday evening. The void we are experiencing is temporary. Dad assured us that he was ready to go to heaven and be with Jesus. We open our hands and hearts and respond with release as we assured him of our love and the living hope to meet again when we leave this world. 1 Thessalonians 4:13 We do not grieve as those who have no hope. Our hope is in the Lord.
I encourage all of us to choose victory over void and response over reaction.
