We celebrated a December birthday over Christmas with the biggest birthday cake in South Dakota! It was hard to cut, but it did have 0 calories! Darleen Cuppy wrote her Cuppy’s Corner news Monday morning. Delia Atkinson came to get it later in the forenoon. Judy Winegar came Monday afternoon with a box of Christmas treats from the Templeton Women’s Fellowship. Darleen feels very grateful for them to include her!

Weighing in on My Newspaper Experience

As the semester comes to an end, so does my journalism class and my opportunity to write for the True Dakotan. WhatIlearnedinwriting for the newspaper is how to gather information and craft the information in a way that allowed me to properly inform people about certain stories.

Over the past few months, we have talked about the impact kindness can have on all of us. This month I would like to recognize acts of kindness that the community provides to our schools.

Darleen Cuppy wrote her Cuppy’s Corner news Monday morning. Delia Atkinson came to get it later in the forenoon. It got very icy on Monday. The MS/HS Christmas Concert was postponed to next Monday at 7 p.m. Tuesday it was snowing, it looked very pretty out the window.

Newspapers’ reach demonstrated in readership survey

As the True Dakotan’s Editor / Publisher, I know that our readers depend on their local community newspaper to keep them informed and connected. I wasn’t fully aware, however, how that might translate across different communities throughout the state.
