Blackhawks Topple Rustlers at Home in Springs

“The WWSSC Blackhawks started out fast and never slowed down. I am proud of how the team came out and fought from the very start,” said Blackhawks Head Coach Michael Schmitz. “We played pretty well in all three phases of the game. Grant Edwards seemed to score most of the time when he touched the ball.”

Grant Edwards scored four touchdowns for the Blackhawks, who move to 5-1. Edwards scored on a 56-yard touchdown run and returned two kickoffs for touchdowns. He also returned an interception 97 yards for a touchdown.

Holden Havlik completed four of 12 passes for 101 yards and a score while rushing four times for 107 yards and three touchdowns. Wesley Molnar ran twice for 49 yards and one touchdown while Tyson Eddy carried six times for 53 yards.

Ryder Michalek caught two passes for 72 yards and a touchdown while breaking up three passes and making an interception on defense.

“Offensively we were able to control the game on the ground with some help from our passing. Defensively, I liked what we were able to do throughout the game,” shared Schmitz. “We created turnovers and capitalized on mistakes. Special teams also came up big for the Blackhawks.”

Next up, the Blackhawks host Chamberlain in Wessington Springs Friday, October 11.
