The Woonsocket-Wessington Springs-Sanborn Central Bucks left no doubt Friday night, rolling to a 53-0 shutout victory over Webster behind a balanced offensive attack and a defense that swarmed from start to finish.
Head Coach Michael Schmitz said he was pleased with the team’s energy out of the gate.
“It was really good to see the team come out firing on Friday,” Schmitz said. “We were able to run the ball and complete some difficult throws throughout the game. Our defense played fast and aggressively. Overall, this was a game we needed to play fast and we did.”
Offensive Firepower
Quarterback Luke Larson had a standout night, completing 10 of 13 passes for 225 yards and three touchdowns. He also carried the ball four times for 44 yards and added another score on the ground.
The receiving crew was equally sharp. Nathan Gaikowski hauled in four catches for 80 yards and two touchdowns, while Colby Flowers had three receptions for 69 yards. Grant Edwards added a highlight with a 40-yard touchdown catch.
On the ground, Wesley Molnar powered the Bucks’ rushing attack, racking up 115 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.
Defensive Highlights
The Bucks’ defense matched the offense’s intensity, pitching a shutout and forcing multiple turnovers. Wesley Molnar contributed three tackles and an interception, while Ethan Amick also came up with a pick to snuff out a Webster drive.
