The Wessington Springs Owls split a doubleheader with the Burke Bombers in Pony Hills League play on July 20 in Wessington Springs. The Owls took the opener 6-5, while Burke bounced back with a 5-1 win in Game 2.
Parker DeJean had a grand slam for the Owls, who had two hits alongside teammate Mason Schelske. DeJean pitched a complete game in the second contest, allowing three hits and a run in seven innings. Cade Mohling added two hits and two runs for the Owls.
The two teams will meet again in the District 6B Tournament, held July 26–27 in Colome. Wessington Springs, paired with Burke for the tournament, will play Game 4 at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, against the Bombers.
